Police have arrested a teen accused of trying to rape a woman in Henry County last month.

On Monday the 15-year-old was arrested after a tipster called Henry County police to report a suspicious person matching a police alert in the area of the 1100 block of Rock Quarry Road, authorities said.

According to police, a woman reported being sexually assaulted on May 20 as she walked through the Villas at Eagles Landing apartment complex.

Police said the suspect approached the woman and attempted to sell her marijuana before propositioning her for sexual acts.

When the woman refused him, police said the suspect pushed her down and sexually assaulted her.

The teen, who lives near the complex where the incident occurred, has been charged with criminal attempt to commit rape and is being held at a youth detention center, Henry County police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said.
