Gwinnett County police obtained an arrest warrant for murder Tuesday night for a 42-year-old man after his elderly mother was found stabbed to death in their home.

Mark Wilson, of 1139 Simonton Glen Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville, is wanted in the death of his 72-year-old mother, Phyllis Wilson, police said.

The Gwinnett County Police Department and Gwinnett Fire/EMS responded about 10:30 a.m. to the report of a person down. They were met by Wilson’s husband and care taker, who told them he had returned home to find his wife dead.

Police homicide and crime scene units were called to the scene and with the Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s Office determined Phyllis Wilson, who was partially paralyzed, had been stabbed to death, police said.

Mark Wilson, meanwhile, was not at home, and one of the family’s vehicles was missing.

“Investigators developed probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for aggravated assault and felony murder for Mark Wilson,” police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a statement.

“Mr. Wilson suffers from schizophrenia [and] is believed to be driving the missing vehicle,” a champagne-color 2006 Toyota Camry with Georgia tag ACE 4286, Ritter said.

Anyone who sees the man or his vehicle is urged to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300 or local authorities. “Anyone encountering Mr. Wilson is urged to use caution,” Ritter said.
