A Gwinnett County man facing felony charges related to keeping wild animals said Thursday he plans to hire an attorney, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Jesus Cruz-Concepcion, 27, was arrested Sunday with a Gaboon Viper and two cobra snakes in his house on Sugarloaf Highway in Lawrenceville, according to arrest warrants.

His bond was set at $22,000 for drugs and wildlife possession.

Cruz-Concepcion also had in his home a raccoon, an alligator, a squirrel and more than 50 grams of marijuana.

What he didn’t have was a permit.

The Department of Natural Resources contacted Gwinnett police with the warrants, Cpl. Deon Washington, a spokesman for Gwinnett police, said.

Neighbor Lisa Oden, who lives across the street from Cruz-Concepcion, told Channel 2 she was surprised.

“Cobras and crocodiles, no that’s not our typical run-of-the-mill strays we find around here,” Oden said. “Sorry, it’s just so crazy.”
