The four-legged animal that sheepishly hid from deputies, but bravely darted into traffic in Cherokee County was reunited with his owner Tuesday afternoon.

After avoiding capture for two days, the sheep-goat hybrid, sometimes called a “geep,” was taken into custody Sunday morning on Legendary Tarn, near Acworth, by the Oak Grove precinct’s first-shift deputies, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office. The animal, who didn’t provide his name, was dubbed “Billy.”

Deputies received several reports of Billy darting into the road in the area of Bells Ferry Road and Ga. 92, the Sheriff’s Office said. When deputies tried to catch him, Billy ran.

No kidding.

After a short standoff, Billy was taken into custody without incident. He was being held at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter, and many offered to adopt the animal.

But late Tuesday afternoon, his owner arrived with video and photos of the animal to claim him, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies from the Oak Grove precinct nabbed "Billy" Sunday morning.
