A man known on the streets as “Al Gore” and his girlfriend are in an Ohio jail on felony drug charges stemming from what police said was a scheme to bring cocaine and heroin into the city.

Gore — real name Alan Duncan — is charged with drug trafficking and conspiracy to drug trafficking.

The same charges have been filed against his girlfriend, Sean Mercer. She’s accused of helping him transport the drugs from his residence in an Ohio neighborhood to Springfield for sale, according to police.

Both pleaded not guilty in Clark County Municipal Court on Thursday. Duncan’s bond has been set at $350,000; Mercer’s is $250,000.

Duncan, 36, and Mercer, 37, were stopped Wednesday on I-70 east for a traffic violation. An Ohio Highway Patrol K-9 unit alerted to the vehicle and troopers found approximately 1 kilo of heroin under a seat, police said.

Police, using a warrant, searched their homes and found 1,000 grams of cocaine, firearms and other evidence of drug trafficking.

A third person, Aaron Bray, was arrested when police searched a third location, an apartment in Springfield. His relationship to Duncan and Mercer was not immediately known. Bray, 32, detained on a charge of drug trafficking, was booked into jail on a $250,000 bond.
