A Georgia State Patrol trooper recently resigned following a bizarre DUI arrest outside a Griffin home, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Christopher McEntyre was detained by a homeowner, whose house he stumbled upon after his truck got stuck on nearby train tracks, Spalding County deputies told Channel 2. Officials said McEntyre was wearing just one shoe.

McEntyre, who had been with the GSP since 2006, was off duty at the time of the July arrest. He resigned six days later, officials told Channel 2.

Beth and Don Reeves told Channel 2 they were asleep when they heard McEntyre stumbling in their yard, attempting to enter one of their cars.

“I heard her say, ‘What are you doing?’” Don Reeves said, “and by the time I got there, there was a guy trying to get into her car. I walked outside and there was an ashtray on the porch and I pointed it at him. I said get on the ground or I will shoot you. Stop moving.”

Don Reeves pretended the ashtray was a gun to force McEntyre to the ground until police arrived, Channel 2 reported.

The Reeves now live in North Carolina.
