A former Jones County middle school teacher pleaded guilty Monday to molesting multiple students, according to multiple media reports.
Witcher Tate Wilson was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 15 years on probation after pleading guilty to six counts of child molestation, Macon-based news station WMAZ-TV reported.
The seventh grade English and language arts teacher at Clifton Ridge Middle School was arrested in January, denied bond in February and indicted on the six counts in May, the news station reported.
The indictment said Wilson molested four boys under the age of 16 at school. Authorities said 20 students reported Wilson had inappropriate sexual conversation with them between October 2018 and January.
Of his accusers, four of the boys said Wilson touched them inappropriately, WMAZ-TV reported. One student said Wilson exposed himself, and another said Wilson touched his genitals in front of him.
Wilson allegedly told the student to not tell on him since, “It’s technically molesting,” the news station reported.
In addition to his prison sentence, he will have to surrender his teaching certificate and register as a sex offender.
The middle school is just outside Macon’s city limits in Jones County, and it is about 95 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.
