A Georgia man is in jail on charges he bit a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, officials said.

Deputies arrested Shawn Smith, 34, of Murrayville, about 1:15 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Wisteria Drive without incident, Hall County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Ware said.

It’s unclear why Smith was at the address, but he was arrested in connection with an incident Feb. 12 in the 6200 block of Brady Road.

Smith pulled the girl’s arm before biting her on the shoulder and leaving large marks and swelling, Ware said. That same day, he bit the boy on his face and left a large red mark, Ware said.

Smith’s relation to the children was not released, but Ware confirmed they all lived in the same home.

He was booked into the Hall County jail on two counts of first-degree cruelty to children.

“This case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office,” Ware said.
