A 34-year-old female teacher at a Florida high school faces jail time over an alleged sexual relationship with a male student.
WFTS reported that Valerie Michelle Valvo, a teacher at Central High School in Brooksville, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a male student younger than 17.

Detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received information about the relationship and interviewed the student. The student told detectives that he had at least three sexual encounters with Valvo at her home in Spring Hill, Florida, according to WFTS.
When questioned by detectives, Valvo admitted to having sex with the student five to six times.
Both Valvo and the minor admitted to using marijuana and alcohol at Valvo’s house, and both said that their relationship was consensual, according to WFTS.

Despite the claims, a juvenile cannot consent to a sexual relationship with an adult under the law. Valvo was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
