A South Florida man stole a laptop and then posted it for sale on Craigslist, allowing the owner to set up a meeting with him and police, authorities said.
Darren Searchwell, 21, was arrested after police joined the victim of the burglary, who set up a meeting with Searchwell after Searchwell posted an ad on Craigslist in an attempt to sell the laptop, WPBF reports. The laptop was stolen on Monday with the ad showing up on Craigslist on Tuesday.
According to police, Searchwell "tried to make a run for it" and even dove into a nearby canal before realizing that he was surrounded. He was charged with burglary, grand theft, and resisting arrest.
