A Florida man is facing charges after police said he stole a van earlier this month so he could drive it to a Waffle House.
Marcus Trae Johnson, 28, was followed by police using the van’s GPS system after it was stolen June 7.
The officers monitored it going to a Crestview-area Waffle House, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported.
Officers said the GPS tracking also showed Johnson taking the van to a truck stop.
Police said surveillance tapes showed Johnson in the vehicle wearing a green, military-style hat. Officers recovered the same clothing inside the van later.
Johnson told officers that "he didn't know anything about the van" and didn't know why it was in his yard, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported. He also denied that he was the man in the surveillance video.
He was arrested and charged with grand theft auto.
