A South Florida man allegedly stabbed his wife to death with scissors, starved their dog and left them in the house for weeks, authorities said.
Jeffrey Thacker, 65, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested Tuesday after police went to his house to conduct a well-being check on his wife, according to WPLG.
When officers arrived, they said they smelled what they thought was a decomposed body and found Thacker in bloody clothing, WPLG reported.F
“I killed her. I stabbed her with a pair of scissors,” Thacker reportedly told police according to WPLG.
According to police, Thacker also said his wife had been dead since before Valentine’s Day. Police also said the couple’s dog was dead. Veterinarians said it appeared the dog hadn’t had food or water for at least two weeks, WPLG reported.
A medical examiner said Thacker’s wife had at least two dozen stab wounds, according to WPLG.
Thacker faces a murder charge and is being held without bond.
