A lone bank robber struck an Atlanta branch Tuesday morning brandishing a weapon, and federal authorities are seeking the public’s help to find him.

Around 10:30 a.m., authorities said the bandit entered the PNC Bank at 4855 Briarcliff Road and announced that he was robbing the bank as he held a semi-automatic handgun to a teller’s head, FBI officials said.

The robber then hopped over the teller counter and began shoving cash from teller drawers into a black canvas bag, authorities said.

He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, FBI officials said.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late 30s or early 40s who is between 5-foot-10 and 5-11 and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt, khaki or tan pants, a brown hat and sunglasses, authorities said.

It appeared that he had a pillow or some padding stuffed in his shirt and something stuffed in his jaw, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the DeKalb County police at 770-724-7890 or the FBI Atlanta office at 404-679-9000.
