A 32-year-old man left behind a 6-week-old boy when he was fatally shot after a shift at an East Point sports bar.

Laron Lowe had just finished work at 29 Degrees on Washington Road on Sunday morning when he and a co-worker got into her Chevrolet Tahoe, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Now, Danielle Johnson and members of Lowe’s family are working through their grief. They are having to delay his funeral due to lack of money, Johnson said.

Lowe’s mother, Gwendolyn White, hasn’t been able to eat or sleep since she heard her son was killed, Johnson said Friday.

“She’s devastated,” Johnson said. “It’s hard to get anything done.”

Johnson said she met Lowe when they were about 17 years old through mutual friends. He was a caring man who always made her laugh, Johnson said.

Several phone calls came in after the shooting Sunday morning and Johnson quickly confirmed with Lowe’s family that he was shot to death after work.

“This was his second job,” Johnson said. “He was working two jobs to support the baby.”

Twin brothers Isaiah Adams and Leon Adams were arrested and charged with murder in connection to Lowe’s death. A third man charged with murder in the shooting, Malcolm Pitts, surrendered to police Wednesday.

One of Lowe's brothers, Ferrari Juhan, set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses. The campaign had raised a little more than $1,000 as of Friday afternoon.
