A Georgia teenager described as “extremely intelligent” by family members was charged with fatally shooting his sister at home, the Augusta Chronicle reported.

Sonny Kristopher Kim, 16, of Martinez, which is near Augusta, shot his 23-year-old sister at least eight times while she sat on the family sofa late Monday, authorities said.

Before the incident, the family had spent the evening on Skype with another sister, who lives out of state with her child, according to the report.

The suspect graduated high school at age 16, had enrolled in college and worked at a computer repair shop, the newspaper reported. He was charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
