Gainesville police are searching for a man who held three Walgreen’s employees at gunpoint while stealing drugs and cash from the pharmacy.

The armed robbery occurred Tuesday evening in the 400 block of South Enota Drive, police said in a Facebook post.

Authorities said a man with a face covering, gloves and a backpack walked into the pharmacy just as it was closing about 11 p.m. and pulled out a handgun.

“The suspect, while holding his gun up, grabbed one employee by the hair and told everyone to walk to the back of the store,” Gainesville police said in the post.

He forced the employees to fill his bag with an undisclosed amount of narcotics before walking into the Walgreen’s office and stealing cash, police said.

He is believed to have fled the store on foot.

“We are fortunate no one was harmed during this traumatic experience,” Gainesville police Chief Jay Parrish said in a statement. “No amount of money or valuables are worth the life of anyone in our community.”

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call investigators at 770-535-3783.
