Don’t let the partly cloudy skies fool you. Metro Atlanta should be dry through the evening.
Whatever isolated showers and thunder that develop after sunset will wind down quickly, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“We’re mainly dry, partly cloudy, warm and humid as we head toward tonight,” Monahan said.
Southeast winds have been bringing in a lot of moisture and raising the humidity, meteorologist Karen Minton said earlier.
The current temperature is 91 degrees in Atlanta, but it feels like 94, according to Channel 2. The high was 92, which is above average for this date.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain, but metro Atlanta likely won’t see any of it.
“We have just a few clouds in the area,” Minton said. “But there are a few isolated showers that may pop here and there.”
Don’t expect the nice weather to last long.
“We’ve got that big ridge of high pressure,” Minton said. “It’s breaking down for us and gradually we’ll feel that moisture returning.”
By Tuesday evening a cold front arrived, increasing the rain chances to 40 percent for Wednesday.
Temps should drop to the high 80s for Thursday, which should see a 30 percent chance of rain.
