The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of vandalized boats on Lake Lanier just before the holiday weekend.

Hall County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a series of boat vandalism incidents on Lake Lanier that happened just before the Fourth of July weekend.

According to the sheriff’s office, four boats suffered ripped-up seat cushions and were scrawled with permanent marker overnight between July 2-3. The graffiti included phrases like “(expletive) the rich” and anarchic circle-A symbols drawn in various places on the boats.

The damaged boats were each docked at private residences. The sheriff’s office posted video from a private security camera showing a masked suspect leaving one of the docks. It is unknown whether the suspect worked alone or had help.

All four boats were located at homes in a neighborhood called Martin’s Cove. A waterfront home for sale in the area with a two-slip dock is listed for more than $1.3 million.

Investigators at the sheriff’s office are actively working the case. Anyone with information related to the crime or the suspect caught on video is asked to contact Investigator Doug Matthews at 770-533-7683.
