A man was charged with sex trafficking and other offenses after a 16-year-old female runaway was found “being victimized,” a Forsyth County sheriff’s official said Monday.

Deputies responded Saturday to a call about a juvenile at an address in northeast Forsyth County, Cpl. Doug Rainwater said.

“Once our deputies arrived, the juvenile was interviewed and alert deputies began to suspect this could be a child sex trafficking case,” he said.

The Major Crimes Unit was called in, and they determined the girl “was involved in prostitution and sex crimes and was being victimized,” Rainwater said.

The girl was a runaway from DeKalb County and was turned over to the state Division of Family and Children Services.

Matthew Humphries, 31, of Cumming, was charged with trafficking in sexual servitude, interference with child custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Rainwater.

He is in the Forsyth County jail.
