Months after a DeKalb County woman was arrested on an elder abuse charge following her mother’s death, authorities have added a murder charge.

Olivia Lynn Walker, 49, of Lithonia, was arrested Thursday on the new felony murder charge, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. She’s accused of neglecting her mother over a four-year period, causing her death.

Walker cared for her mother, Mattie Lynn Bullard, at a home off Marbut Farms Trail since 2010, the release said. Bullard suffered a stroke in 2015 and died in January.

Walker is accused of “causing the death of her mother” by neglecting her since January 2016, the release said. Authorities did not provide specifics about what Walker is accused of doing to her mother that allegedly caused her death.

Walker was arrested Jan. 24 on the elder abuse charge and released from jail on bond Feb. 11, according to jail records. Her bond amount was not immediately available.

She was taken into custody again Thursday, one day after DeKalb police obtained the felony murder warrant. AJC.com has reached out to the department for more information.

Walker remains in the DeKalb jail without bond, records show.
