DeKalb County police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the county’s first homicide of 2020.

Henri Antoine Rogers, 29, of Lithonia, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta on one count of murder, DeKalb jail records show. Rogers is accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Damon Vickers on Sunday evening during what police described as a possible domestic dispute.

Officers were called to a home off Lynda Place in the Candler-McAfee neighborhood about 7 p.m. and discovered Vickers with a gunshot wound, DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said previously. He was rushed to the hospital and later died.

Aside from calling the incident a possible domestic dispute, no other information about the shooting or what led up to it has been released. On Tuesday, Vincent said that a “thorough investigation” led to Rogers’ arrest, but she declined to disclose how he and Vickers knew each other.

GoFundMe page set up to raise money for Vickers' funeral expenses describes him as a dedicated and loving father "whose every thought and decision was made in the best interest of his kids."
