William Callaway isn’t accused of killing anyone, but the 22-year-old Stone Mountain man is charged with murder.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Callaway and Jaymericko Scott Jr. were shot Oct. 6 while trying to purchase automatic weapons with counterfeit money. The shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Kensington Road near Decatur, AJC.com previously reported.

Scott died of his injuries.

On Tuesday, deputies arrested Callaway on charges of felony murder and first-degree forgery, jail records show. According to the sheriff’s office, Callaway was charged with murder because the weapons deal led to Scott’s death.

He was taken into custody without incident at a home in Stone Mountain.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said there was no information available on the weapons dealer who allegedly shot Callaway and killed Scott.

Callaway is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail, records show.
