William Henry Miller, 23, was arrested for armed robbery and cruelty to children in November 2015 and spent two months in the Fulton County jail. The charges, which carried a maximum of life in prison, were dropped in March after the victim did not identify him as the man who held her up.
During the time he was incarcerated, Miller lost his job and car. He is now suing the Hapeville detective and the city in Fulton County Superior Court for punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.
Hapeville police swore out warrants for Miller’s arrest in September 2015 before seeking to have the victim identify him as the man who robbed her, according to the lawsuit.
