A potential alcohol purchase ended with a man telling the store owner he was going to die and threatening to blow up the business, Oakwood police said.

Nearly two weeks after the threat, police are hoping a CrimeStoppers reward will yield an arrest.

On April 7, the man walked into a convenience store on McEver Road to buy alcohol, Oakwood police Sgt. Todd Templeton said in a news release.

“While making the purchase, the suspect became angry after he was asked for identification by the store’s owner,” Templeton said.

That’s when the man asked about the owner’s religious beliefs and told the owner he was going to die. As he left, the suspect threatened to blow up the store, police said.

Authorities say he left in a dark-colored Chrysler Aspen with a temporary tag.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a $2,000 reward.
