Cops: Suspect in fatal Lawrenceville shooting may have left the state

Police have named a suspect in the fatal driveway shooting of a teenager in a Lawrenceville cul-de-sac.

A Gwinnett County arrest warrant names Shamarii Bonner as the man who allegedly killed 19-year-old Jalee’n Harrell outside a home along Shoal Court.

The shooting occurred March 1 just before 1 p.m., police said.

Witnesses said there was some type of altercation between the two men before the alleged shooter killed Harrell and sped off in a white Acura sedan.

A neighbor's surveillance camera captured a white sedan leaving the scene of a fatal shooting in Lawrenceville in March.

Police said the altercation may have stemmed from a drug-related robbery as marijuana was discovered at the scene, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Investigators with the Gwinnett County Fugitive Squad believe Bonner, also 19, may have left the state since the shooting, authorities told the news station.

Police said Bonner has ties to the Lawrenceville area, though his most recent address lists him as living in Petersburg, Va.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Lawrenceville police.
