Authorities arrested a registered sex offender accused of posing as a police officer in DeKalb County, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Diondre Reeves, driving a silver truck, followed and attempted to pull a man over, Channel 2 reported. The man was not sure if Reeves was an officer, so he pulled in front of his sister’s Stone Mountain home.
The victim’s sister, Monique Harris, said Reeves didn’t behave like an officer, so she questioned him.
“(I said), ‘You don’t look like a police officer,’” she told Channel 2. “So, I then asked him for his identification, and I didn’t see any type of gun. He was very aggressive, saying, ‘Hold back, go back in the house.’”
But Harris continued to follow her intuition.
She called 911 and read Reeves’ license plate number. Reeves tried to block her view and sped off, Channel 2 reported.
The plate number eventually led authorities to Reeves’ home, where he gave them a false name before being arrested.
Reeves is out of jail on bond and faces charges of impersonating an officer, giving a false name and obstruction.
He was convicted of aggravated assault with intent to rape in May 2005, according to the GBI’s sex offender registry.
“If you’re going to be bold enough to impersonate a police officer,” Harris said, “there’s no telling what else you would do.”
Reeves’ arrest comes on the heels of two recent cop impersonations being investigated by Atlanta and Cobb County police. In both instances, the victims said they were sexually assaulted. The agencies released separate sketches of the suspects Wednesday.
