A 31-year-old man who was shot to death early Friday in Paulding County was targeted, authorities said.

Ronald Chadwick Morgan was riding a motorcycle when he was shot, sheriff’s Sgt. Ashley Henson said. The incident happened near 1680 Holly Springs Road in Rockmart.

The victim lived in the area where he was killed, Henson said.

Morgan’s body was found in a ditch by deputies, who responded shortly after 4:15 a.m.

Henson assured residents that “there is not a person or group of persons targeting unknowing victims in western Paulding County.”
