A Marietta man is accused of trying to strangle a woman inside his home, breaking her nose during the incident, authorities said.
Damian Rodriguez Pavon, 32, faces four charges after the Feb. 26 domestic incident, according to Cobb County police arrest warrants. The encounter left the victim with “a great deal of blood on her nose, mouth and chin.”
It took place over a 30-minute span inside a house off Bellemeade Drive, the warrants said. Pavon is accused of headbutting the woman in the face three times, while pinning her against a bunk bed inside a bedroom.
He wouldn’t let her leave the bedroom, choking her during the attack in an attempt to kill her, the warrants said. At one point, he allegedly yelled at her in Spanish that, “I am going to kill you!”
The woman was able to escape after he went inside the bathroom, allowing her to run out of the room and call police.
Firefighters at the scene diagnosed her with a broken nose. However, Pavon wasn’t at the scene.
He had driven miles away and was later found by police along Austell Road, the warrants said. His driver’s license is allegedly suspended, so this netted him a misdemeanor charge.
His other charges are felonies and consist of counts of aggravated assault (intent to murder), false imprisonment and battery (family violence), according to Cobb jail records. He was denied bond.
