A man shot his wife and son before turning the gun on himself, police said.

July 31, 2017A man shot his son and wife before turning the gun on himself, police in northeast Georgia said.
Thomas Phillip Powers, 46, and his 26-year-old son, Phillip Tyler Powers, are dead, Jefferson police Chief Joseph Wirthman said.
His wife, 45-year-old Donna Marie Powers was taken to Athens Regional Hospital and is expected to survive a gunshot wound to her hands, he said.
The apparent murder-suicide happened Sunday at a home in the 100 block of Fairlane Drive in Jefferson, about 60 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta in Jackson County.
Police got to the scene just before 11:30 p.m.
