A rapper faces multiple charges after police said he beat his girlfriend with a fist, held her against her will and strangled her.

Webster Gradney Jr., better known by his stage name Webbie, was in Baton Rouge, La., with his girlfriend for the Fourth of July when police said he beat her in a hotel room, The Advocate reported.

The victim told police that Gradney, 31, had consumed marijuana and cocaine two days before the attack. Police say he then hit the woman with his first and a belt before pinning her to the ground with his knee on her throat, the paper reported.

He faces charges of aggravated battery with a weapon, second-degree battery, domestic abuse by strangulation, false imprisonment, theft and simple criminal damage to property, the paper reported.

He was also ordered to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and must not have contact with the victim.

Gradney, who owned a home in Atlanta, has since bonded out of jail on $32,000 and was allowed to return to Georgia.

Gradney’s spokeswoman, Chantelle Gilbeaux, said no drugs were found in the hotel room or car.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
