Jared Brown had just met up with his friends when Larry Deon Reynolds opened fired outside an apartment complex in southwest Atlanta in July 2015.

Brown died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head.

This week, Reynolds, a convicted felon and member of a national gang in Atlanta, was sentenced to life plus 20 years without parole in the deadly shooting that also injured Christopher Brown, Fulton County District Attorney officials said.

Reynolds had bought at $40 Xbox game console from Christopher Brown earlier that night. When Reynolds found out it didn’t work, officials say he returned to Brown’s apartment and opened fire.

Jared Brown was found dead in an apartment breezeway. Christopher Brown was struck in the leg. He and several other witnesses identified Reynolds as the shooter.

Reynolds was convicted of murder, assault, weapons and gang charges.
