A man who was convicted of murder in Florida nearly 20 years ago was arrested by Cobb County police Thursday night after he allegedly tried to pull a gun on officers during a traffic stop.

Quenton Boges, 37, of Atlanta, is also accused of having more than 70 bags of marijuana, heroin and cocaine in his vehicle, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Boges was pulled over along Delk and Bentley roads in Marietta, Cobb County spokeswoman Sarah O’Hara told Channel 2.

“When (the officer) told him to get out of the vehicle, the suspect rolled up his windows and started shifting and moving around the car — opening the center console, reaching around,” O’Hara said. “In the law enforcement world, that’s a big red flag that means something bad is going down.”

Backup was called, and the officers ordered Boges to get out of the car, the news station reported. O’Hara said the suspect tried to fight with officers and reached for his waist band before being detained.

“It seemed like he was trying to find (a) firearm,” O’Hara said.

An arrest warrant obtained by Channel 2 said “the firearm was located under the driver’s side floor mat,” and it had been stolen. The drugs and $1,100 in cash were also seized from his vehicle.

Boges faces eight charges, including six felonies, according to Cobb County jail records. Those felonies are theft; trafficking cocaine, illegal drugs or marijuana; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana; sale of cocaine; possession of a firearm during commission or attempt to commit felonies; and possession of a firearm while on probation.

In 2002, Boges was convicted of killing a motorist in Miami after stealing a car while on probation, Channel 2 reported. The incident happened in 1999, when he was 18.

He remains in the Cobb County Jail without bond, according to records.
