Police in Conyers are trying to find a man they say robbed multiple people at gunpoint at apartment complexes across the city.
The robber wore a black mask and used a handgun with a laser scope during at least three armed robberies, each of which happened between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., police said.
One of the victims was a woman who was arriving at a complex to babysit her grandson, Channel 2 Action News reported.
She told the news station she pulled into the parking lot at the Mainstreet at Conyers apartments about 5 a.m. on Aug. 5.
“As I closed the door, a guy was standing there with a gun,” she said, “and he said give me your money.”
The woman said she told the man she didn’t have anything on her and held up her open wallet to prove it.
“I’ve never been through anything like this and I am terrified,” she said. “I am terrified.”
She said all she remembers about the gun is he put the red dot “right here on my forehead.”
Police said they believe the same man robbed a couple in Newton County at the Salem Terrace Apartments on Aug. 26 and shot at a group of people in Rockdale County at the Woodland Trace Apartments on Monday.
Surveillance video shows the man pulling on door handles before one of the robberies, police told Channel 2.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact Conyers police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
