A convicted molester who spent 10 years in prison is now accused of possessing child pornography, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Richard Wayne Biester, 51, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children after detectives received a tip from the GBI, according to Sgt. Ashley Henson. Biester was arrested Nov. 13 following an investigation at his home, near Rockmart, Henson said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a “CyberTip,” or information tipsters submit online regarding possible criminal activity. The agency passed the tip to the GBI, who contacted Paulding investigators.

"Once search warrants were obtained for Biester's residence, his person, and all of his electronic devices, detectives continued their investigation," Henson said in an emailed statement. "As a result of the search, detectives located child pornography as well as corroborating evidence from the original CyberTip that was received from the GBI."
On Dec. 5, a magistrate judge denied bond for Biester, who remained in the Paulding County jail Friday afternoon.
In 1997, Biester was convicted of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes in Whitfield County, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. That fall, he began serving his 20-year sentence, records show.
Biester was released from Wayne State Prison, located in Odum, in July 2007, according to the GDOC. He became a registered sex offender due to his conviction, GBI records show.
