Security officials intercepted a package at Miami International Airport that contained four pounds of cocaine hidden inside two bags of coffee grounds, Local 10 News reports.
The package was reportedly sent from Peru before U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers confiscated it last month.
Customs officers further examined the coffee grounds on an X-ray screen and found clumps of cocaine inside.
“Peruvian authorities estimate that about 60 percent of their production is exported to the U.S. and Europe with the help of drug lords who have deals with foreign cartels such as the Mexican Sinaloa and the Russian mob,” Local 10 News reports.
