A Cobb County woman died in a crash early Wednesday.

A Cobb County woman was killed early Wednesday when her car hit a tractor-trailer in the 1000 block of Six Flags Road, police said.

Margaret Lightfoot, 31, of Austell, was pronounced dead at the scene, Cobb police Sgt. Sarah O’Hara said.

About 12:40 a.m., Lightfoot’s 2000 Chrysler Town & Country was heading west on Six Flags Road when a 2003 Freightliner tractor with a semi-trailer left a private drive and went into the path of the Chrysler, according to police.

“The front of the Chrysler collided with the left side of the semi-trailer's tandem wheels,” O’Hara said.

The tractor-trailer driver, 40-year-old Placencia Orlando of Homestead, Fla., was not injured.

No charges are pending against Orlando, but O’Hara said that could change since the investigation is ongoing. The Georgia Department of Public Safety's Motor Carrier Compliance Division is assisting in the investigation and could also file charges, she said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police at 770-499-3987.
