A Massachusetts man faces multiple charges after he was accused of breaking into a home, painting the victim's dog purple and stealing a car over the weekend.
Officers got a call Saturday about a stolen car case that ended with a crash. A few minutes after that, police arrived at a home in Oak Bluffs after a burglary was reported.
The victim told officers a ground level window had been forced open by an intruder. Several items were missing and the victim's dog had been painted purple, police said.
It was not immediately clear why the dog was painted.
Investigating officers spoke to a neighbor, who told police that a man had knocked on the neighbor's door earlier in the day. The neighbor described the man for police and said he looked "disheveled."
The description led police to Felix Reagan, 19, who faced several charges -- including breaking and entering -- in a separate incident reported on June 3.
Officers found and detained Reagan. Police found prescription pills, a driver's license and credit cards taken from the victim's home during a search, according to authorities. Reagan had purple paint on his pants, which was consistent with the paint that was found on the dog, police said.
Reagan faces multiple charges, including two counts of assault and battery on a police officer after he allegedly kicked an Oak Bluffs officer.
Authorities said Reagan might face more as the investigation continues.
