Eryn Rice, 22, was caught attempting to shoplift from a CVS Pharmacy in Deltona, Florida on Sunday morning and was being handcuffed when she slipped out andran, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Rice escaped to a nearby home, where she washed her clothes and showered before taking a nap, NBC Miami added.

The 73-year-old woman living there discovered Rice in her husband’s flannel pajamas and initially believed her husband to be having an affair, the Sentinel reports. The husband returned from golf and assured her that he had never seen the woman in his life. Rice’s socks and underwear were found in the washing machine, and she told the woman that she had “a severe case of sleepwalking.”

According to deputies, the woman felt bad for Rice and offered her a bowl of cereal for breakfast, which she “repeatedly fell asleep” over. The couple drove her to a home close by and flagged down a deputy to ask if they were looking for a woman, deputies said.

Rice was arrested on charges of grand theft, resisting arrest with violence, giving a false name upon arrest, retail theft of $300 of more, battery on a law enforcement officer, escape, burglary and first offense petit theft.
