Authorities arrested a man they say shot someone in the leg on an eastbound MARTA train earlier this week.

Thoth Gray, 34, was taken into custody Friday and faces aggravated assault charges in connection to the Sunday evening shooting.

MARTA officials said Gray shot the victim on a train headed to Kensington station, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. He ran off the train once it stopped.

Train service was delayed two hours as authorities searched for Gray.

A handgun was found at the scene.

“Although I regret this incident occurred, our detectives with very few leads were able to identify the suspect in less than 32 hours,” MARTA Police Chief Wanda Y. Dunham said in a statement. “The victim in this case is in good condition and has been released from the hospital.”

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim and have not said if Gray knew the person.

Gray also faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
