Road rage sparks shooting at Walmart in Cobb; 1 injured

A road-rage incident in a Walmart parking lot sparked a Cobb County shooting involving three people and sent a 23-year-old man to a hospital, police said Monday.

The victim got into a verbal spat with a 62-year-old man before they went into the store, which is in the 6500 block of Barrett Parkway at Powder Springs Road, Cobb police spokesman Wayne Delk said.

The older man was approached again by the younger man when they left the store, Delk said, and a dispute turned physical.

“Subsequently shots were fired by the older male and the younger male was struck,” Delk said. “A 21-year-old female who was with the younger male then fired shots at the older male.”

The woman then drove the younger man to a hospital, according to Delk. He is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The older man, who was not injured, left the scene on his own, police said.

No identities were released. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 770-499-3945.

The store remained open after the shooting.
