The officer was working across from El Dixie Plaza in the 5000 block of Old Dixie Highway, spokeswoman Ashanti Marbury said. The officer saw someone shooting at another person.
The officer went to investigate, and the shooter turned and pointed a gun at the officer attempting to fire, Marbury said.
The officer then shot the suspect, who died en route to a hospital.
CCPD confirms their officer was working an off-duty job at this church across the street when he heard gunfire. They tell us, he ran over and told the suspect to put down his weapon. Instead we’re told that suspect allegedly shot at officer, who in turn fired back. At 6 @wsbtv! pic.twitter.com/RM6DxJJCul
