A father faces involuntary manslaughter charges after Forsyth County authorities say they discovered his 3-month-old died of head trauma Wednesday night.

Jacob Picklesimer, 23, initially told police he found daughter Skylar unresponsive in the parents’ bed, Forsyth sheriff’s Deputy Doug Rainwater said in a statement.

Authorities took the girl to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators eventually discovered she died of “significant trauma to the head,” Rainwater said.

Picklesimer is also charged with cruelty to children. An autopsy has been performed, but Rainwater said the report is not yet available.

Picklesimer has been released from jail on a $38,740 bond.
