Cobb County police are investigating a fatal wreck involving a Ford F250 and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A Marietta man was killed in a head-on, two-car crash Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed.

Joseph Crowell, 42, was driving a Ford F250 south on South Cobb Drive, while a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Mark O’Brien, 61, also of Marietta, was headed north on the road, Cobb County police spokeswoman Sarah O’Hara said.

For an unknown reason, the Ford entered oncoming traffic and hit the Jeep near Waldrep Circle, O’Hara said.

Crowell was found dead at the scene, O’Hara said. O’Brien was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. His updated condition was not provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
