Two people were killed and two were injured Tuesday night in a four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-75 in Henry County, authorities said.

The crash shut down the interstate for about six hours, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Just after 9:15 p.m., a tractor-trailer struck two vehicles on I-75 South near Hudson Bridge Road, Henry County police spokesman Capt. Joey Smith said in a news release. All the vehicles then struck a disabled Honda Accord that was in the right lane without its lights on.

The vehicles all burst into flames, the release said. Leland Wilson, 40, of Thomaston, and Sylvia Welch, 59, of McDonough, were both killed. Wilson was the driver of the Honda, while Welch was the driver of an Audi Coupe.

The release said “additional victims” were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The disabled Honda was the initial cause of the accident, according to investigators.
