Approximately 750 Alpharetta families went without heat overnight after a gas line was damaged by a construction crew on Rucker Road, authorities said.
On Saturday morning, an Atlanta Gas Light spokeswoman said the line has since been repaired, with service restored to about 300 affected homes.
The impacted area runs through Mayfield Road and its adjacent neighborhoods and subdivisions, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post.
Once the line was repaired, crews began going door to door to restore service, said Mekka Parish, spokeswoman for Atlanta Gas Light.
Residents are advised to not try to do that themselves.

“We will continue to work as safety and swiftly as possible throughout the day to return to full service,” Parish said in a statement. “To complete repairs, Atlanta Gas Light representatives will need to enter impacted customers’ property to turn gas service back on and relight appliances and equipment. We understand that this service outage may cause some discomfort, particularly during the cold weather, but appreciate the community’s patience as we seek to safely resolve this issue.”
North Fulton was among a handful of North Georgia counties under a freeze warning until 10 a.m Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
“It’s tough with small children,” resident Candace Brown told Channel 2 Action News on Friday night. “We may all four end up in the same bed trying to keep warm. I know it was unexpected, but hopefully some urgency to get it put back on — we would really appreciate it.”
