A man charged with concealing the death of an Iraq War veteran will remain in the Cobb County jail without bond, a judge ruled Friday.
James Bradshaw Clement was called a flight risk in a hearing.
Clement was indicted in October in the case of Kennesaw veteran Chase Massner. Clement also was charged with making a false statement to police.
Massner disappeared in 2014. After receiving a tip, authorities found his body buried in the backyard of a home in the 500 block of Farmbrook Trail where Clement once lived.
After a week on the run, the 31-year-old Clement was arrested in a parking lot of a DeKalb County shopping center Aug. 10.
Though it isn't clear if drugs had a role in Massner's death, an autopsy found methamphetamine and morphine in his system, according to the Cobb County Medical Examiner's office. The report attributed the morphine to the fact that he "had a known history of heroin abuse," according to the report. "Morphine is the primary metabolite of heroin."
