The woman shot eight times allegedly by her husband outside their Sandy Springs apartment has been released from the Shepherd Center, a family friend said.
Adina Parson, 40, was shot the night of April 20 just steps away from the front door of the Morgan Falls apartment where she lived with her husband, Michael Parson. Michael Parson was later charged with shooting his wife and remains in the Fulton County jail without bond.
Adina Parson, an attorney for the state Department of Public Health, was critically injured, but she survived her injuries and spent weeks at Grady Memorial Hospital before moving to the Shepherd Center for continued rehabilitation. Friend Lisa Baker told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Adina Parson’s treatment is now on an outpatient basis.
“Her recovery is just entering the next phase with outpatient therapy but this, by no means, is a cakewalk for her and her family,” Baker said. “We would just like everyone to know that she continues to work very hard at her recovery, and the prayers and good wishes are still necessary for the road ahead.”
In the days following the shooting, Michael Parson was at the hospital with his wife as family and friends pleaded for the public's help finding the person responsible. When the husband emerged as a suspect, he apparently skipped town before being arrested in Texas in early May.
Court documents indicate Michael Parson was leading a double life that included being engaged to another woman. He was indicted in July on numerous charges, including criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated battery. His trial could occur early next year, attorneys have said.
