Atlanta police are asking the public for help identifying a man they say robbed a group of people at knifepoint last week.

The alleged attack occurred last Wednesday at a gas station on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, authorities said.

According to police, the suspect approached four men outside the Chevron just before 4:30 p.m. and asked for money. When the men said they didn’t have anything, the man allegedly pulled a knife and tried to stab them, police said.

One of the men fought off the attacker, who jumped into the back of the group’s work truck in search of cash, according to the report. The suspect then followed another man into the gas station and stabbed him in the hand before stealing his cellphone and $6 from his wallet, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta. Information can be submitted anonymously to the tip line at 404-577-8477 or online at www.StopCrimeATL.com. Tipsters do not have to give their name and are eligible for a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case, police said.
