An off-duty Atlanta police officer was injured early Sunday morning while trying to break up a fight at a restaurant, an APD spokeswoman said.

The officer, whose name was not disclosed, was working security at a restaurant located on Peters Street in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood. Police arrested two suspects after the melee, APD spokeswoman Kim Jones said.

After a fight broke out, the off-duty officer was struck by a patron, which caused him to fall and hit his head, Jones said. The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and remained there Sunday morning.

The lounge’s manager tried to pull the security video but, as of 3 a.m., was unable to do so, Jones said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
