Atlanta firefighter shot by police arrested

Atlanta police arrested a firefighter Friday who was shot by an officer Sunday during what authorities called an armed confrontation.

Police charged Matthew P. Ross, 34, with aggravated assault and reckless conduct. Ross was wounded in the shoulder after a patrol officer responded to a report that a man was armed with a gun and threatening neighbors on Clifford Road in northeast Atlanta on Sunday.

Officer Kyle Henderson began an investigation and the situation escalated. Police say that’s when the officer shot Ross.

Neighbors told Channel 2 Action News that both Ross and his wife were drunk and walking down the street, pointing weapons and threatening their neighbors.

Ross was off duty at the time of the shooting. His wife, Holly Imlach, 40, was also arrested and charged with reckless conduct. Both were transported to the DeKalb County Jail. Imlach is a medical doctor and listed as an obstetrician.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
